2026 interim legislative studies: What topics lawmakers will consider before next session

August 13, 2026

Interim studies offer a chance for lawmakers to take a closer look at emerging issues and consider policy solutions ahead of the next legislative session.

Lawmakers requested over 200 studies this year, showing their interest on topics including criminal justice reform, Oklahoma's health care workforce, the implications of artificial intelligence, and school-based services. Of those, about 180 studies were approved, and even fewer are likely to be scheduled.

Interim studies are typically scheduled between the end of August through early November, though upcoming elections could impact studies' timing.

Healthy Minds is tracking several dozen studies with a connection to behavioral health policy. We will update this page as studies are scheduled.
