Sharita R. Thomas is a mental health fellow focusing on integrated care and Oklahoma’s behavioral health workforce, joining Healthy Minds with expertise in health policy and a commitment to addressing health inequities.
Sharita has federal and state government experience, working in the past for a delegate in the U.S. House of Representatives, for the fiscal research department at the North Carolina General Assembly, and for various projects funded by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration. Her work has focused on population health of underserved communities, rural health care delivery, behavioral and mental health services, maternal and child health, and systems thinking.
She holds a master's degree in public policy with a concentration in health policy from Duke University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in health policy and management at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Originally from the Washington, D.C. area and coming to Tulsa from North Carolina, Sharita is committed to serving the communities where she resides. She has worked as a home health aide for patients with cognitive decline as well as a birth and postpartum doula. Sharita’s combination of policy expertise and public service drives her commitment to improving health outcomes and creating an equitable health care system.
