Shannon Dial is the associate director of community initiatives at Healthy Minds. In her role, she supports the organization’s efforts to transform how communities address the prevention and treatment of mental health and substance use concerns, and she oversees Healthy Minds’ work assessing communities’ needs and evaluating grant projects.
Shannon joined Healthy Minds after spending a decade working in tribal behavioral health at the Chickasaw Nation. She brings over 19 years of clinicial expertise as a practicing licensed marriage and family therapist, including in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting.
In her time as a tribal leader, she oversaw the implementation of the tribe’s integrated behavioral health model and led the tribe as an early adopter of the Zero Suicide Initiative, leading to partnerships and consultations across the country. Today, Shannon serves as a local and national consultant for Zero Suicide; through Healthy Minds’ partnerships, she works with organizations implementing the model in Oklahoma.
Shannon holds a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Oklahoma State University and a Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy from Texas Tech University.
