- Annie E. Casey KIDSCOUNT Data Center: The Annie E. Casey Foundation is a private philanthropy focused on improving outcomes for children and families across the U.S. Their KIDSCOUNT Data Center houses state-level data on several categories including juvenile justice, child welfare, and children’s mental health.
Mental Health Systems
- The National Institute for Health Care Management (NIHCM): A national nonprofit, nonpartisan foundation dedicated to transforming health care through evidence and collaboration. NIHCM has reports on both mental health issues and substance abuse treatment.
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services – Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE): ASPE advises the Department of Health and Human Services on health, disability, and human services policy matters by providing data, research, and economic analysis for all HHS topics.
- Mental Health America: A national organization focusing on mental health from supporting those struggling with mental health challenges, service providers educational opportunities, and public policy.
- Parity Track: A national effort to track and rank states on mental health parity.
- World Health Organization: The mental health policy efforts of the World Health Organization.
- Mental Illness Policy: An online catalogue of common policy issues in mental health.
- Crisis Now: A branch website of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors specifically dealing with crisis care issues.
- National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities: The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) is one of the 27 Institutes and Centers of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the nation’s premiere medical research agency. NIMHD’s work touches the lives of millions of Americans burdened by disparities in health status and health care delivery, including racial and ethnic minority groups, rural populations, populations with low socioeconomic status, and other population groups.
- National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors: NASMHPD works with states, federal partners, and stakeholders to promote wellness, recovery, and resiliency for individuals with mental health conditions or co-occurring mental health and substance related disorders across all ages and cultural groups.
- National Conference of State Legislatures: NCSL represents the legislatures in the states, territories and commonwealths of the U.S. Its mission is to advance the effectiveness, independence and integrity of legislatures and to foster interstate cooperation and facilitate the exchange of information among legislatures.

Peer Support and Advocacy
- National Alliance on Mental Illness: NAMI provides education, advocacy, support, and works to increase public awareness so individuals and families impacted by mental illness can build better lives.
- Faces and Voices of Recovery: An organization of peers supporting those in recovery from substance or alcohol use disorders as well as supporting family and friends with loved ones in recovery.
Substance Abuse Treatment
- Alcohol Policy Information System: The Alcohol Policy Information System (APIS) provides detailed information on a wide variety of Alcohol-Related Policies in the United States at both State and Federal levels, as well as policy information regarding the Recreational Use of Cannabis.
