Healthy Minds Policy Initiative has hired Madison “Maddie” Habeck, MA, as Policy Analyst.
Maddie will research and analyze issues related to the system of care for Oklahoma adults experiencing mental health and substance use disorder. With a background in social services and an education including intercultural communication, Maddie brings a unique ability to see and understand the mental health needs of all Oklahomans and the issues faced by treatment providers. She previously worked as an Employment Specialist with Mental Health Association Oklahoma, and as an Integrated Domestic Violence Court Advocate with DVIS.
Born in Tulsa, Maddie is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She has a Master of Arts in Political and Intercultural Communication and a Bachelor’s in Communication with a minor in Native American Studies, both from the University of Oklahoma. Her experience includes volunteer work as an intern for the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus and service as a Gamma Delta Pi National Board member. She is also a Matriarch Oklahoma alumna. In 2019, she received the Good Samaritan Award from the Tulsa Fire Department. In her spare time, Maddie loves reading, spending time with her dogs, doing beadwork, and talking with her mom.
