Percentage of Population Served by State-funded Mental Health Services
Behavioral health crisis services are a critical piece of the continuum of care. Every community needs them. However, in many, law enforcement agencies or emergency rooms end up managing behavioral health crises because there are few other options and they are not designed to handle these crises.
Description
From 2011 to 2018, the percentage of the population that received ODMHSAS-funded mental health services steadily increased nearly every year in Tulsa County and the state of Oklahoma. Across all years, the percentage is higher among Tulsa County residents than for Oklahoma residents statewide. In Oklahoma County, the percentage of residents who received this care has decreased in recent years, dropping below the Tulsa rate in 2017 and 2018.
